Thinking about a dog

BB and I have been happily pet-less for quite some time. Although I am a dog lover, and she has had cats in the past, we've been content to live without the fur, the poop, the expense, and the responsibilities that come with pet ownership.

But lately I've been thinking about how much I miss having a dog. I miss the companionship of a dog. And I think it might be nice to have a big dog - a dog I could take with me when I go to shoot photos in places I probably shouldn't be all by myself.

I've been thinking about this casually from time to time, and not too seriously, but when I mentioned it to BB recently she was surprised. She was sure we were both satisfied with the advantages of our pet free life.

We briefly talked about the kind of dog I'd like to have if we had one. I said I'd like a lab, or maybe a shepherd. "Really?" She said. She seemed surprised to discover this was something I'd thought about.

Poor BB. That night she had a dream that I was hording dogs and cats in the garage.  She woke up at four AM with this dream and couldn't get back to sleep.

Like so many things in life pet ownership requires compromise. You have to give up some things to get some things. And I'm not quite sure I'm ready for that, but I am still thinking about it.

If you get a dog, our dogs can have play dates together. Haha :)
